In general, I usually tell my clients to allow for a 24 hour turnaround time.
This is the time taken between getting the go-ahead from the client (which usually means we’ve agreed on the rate and discussed how the final VO will sound -in terms of style/pace/tone etc..) and the voiceover arriving in your inbox.
A couple of factors can influence this turnaround time:
- Length of script – clearly a longer script, for example, an e-learning program which contains several modules or an audiobook, will take a lot longer to record than a 3 line voicemail message. You could receive your voicemail voiceover within a couple of hours but may not get your 80-page training manual voiceover for a few days.
- Editing requirements: some clients require only the raw audio file – no editing. Majority of projects, however, will require editing in some form. If your project involves a lot of editing, such as creating lots of smaller files that need individually saving, naming and uploading. This will take a little longer in post-production than the raw audio request.
The important thing to note is, that if you are working to a strict deadline, do let me know. I will always strive to fit in the recording so you can meet your deadlines.
